To the Patriarch of Constantinople 60 thousand appeals from believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
60 thousand appeals from believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were transferred to the secretariat of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople . The documents call for the request for the granting of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, which was addressed to Fanar Ukrainian politicians, was considered exclusively within the framework of canon law, according to the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
Tens of thousands of appeals were signed by believers during May: the first 10 thousand were transferred to Istanbul at the beginning of the month, another 50 thousand - during the pilgrimage of a group from Ukraine headed by the Bishop of Duben Pimen , held on May 21-26 this year.
"We, representing the will of the priesthood, monastics and laity of our Church, who hope that the ecclesiastical issue in Ukraine will be resolved in a canonical way, by the way established by the apostles and fathers of the Holy Church, delivered a written appeal to the Patriarch of Constantinople," said Bishop Pimen.
During the visit, representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church prayed for the Liturgy, which was headed by Metropolitan Apostol (Daniilidis).
Among the 130 pilgrims were parishioners of temples captured by the Kyiv Patriarchate. They also handed over 30 appeals from the communities of Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Rivne and other regions, which described in detail the real state of affairs in the parishes. All appeals are backed up with documents, photo and video materials, on which gross violations of the religious rights of believers are fixed.
