The opening of the forum took place on November 28 - the day of the repose of St. Paisiya Velichkovsky (+28 November 1794), from the moment of his death this year turned 220 years old. Thus, the organizers and participants of the event honored the memory of the outstanding Athos ascetic, church-cultural figure and writer who left an indelible mark on the spirituality and culture of the peoples of the Orthodox East (Greece, Russia, Ukraine, Romania and Moldova). About 80 scientists from different countries took part in the international conference. In particular, scientists from Ukraine, Greece, Russia, Great Britain, France, USA, Germany, Poland, Romania, Moldova and other countries presented their reports at the scientific forum. In addition, the conference also provided for the correspondence form of participation, thanks to which more than 30 correspondence participants could also submit their poster presentations. At the opening of the conference, a greeting was sent to the participants on behalf of the Prince of Wales Charles Honorary Chairman of the Friends of Mount Athos International Society (Great Britain), and on behalf of the President of the International Friends of Athos Society Metropolitan Kallist (Ouera) of Dioclet. The presentation was conducted by the head of the archives, the library and the museum of the Panteleimon monastery, Father Ermolai (Chezhia). In particular, he presented to the audience the books published by the monastery: 1) "Catalog of Slavic-Russian manuscripts", stored in the archives and library of Athos St. Panteleimon Monastery; 2) "The Athos period of the life of Archbishop Basil (Krivoshein) in documents" (contains archival materials that have not yet been published from the Archbishop's personal archive fund); 3) "The Spiritual Heritage of the Athonite Elder Jerome (Solomentsov)" (contains unpublished diaries, letters, instructions stored in the archives of Athos St. Panteleimon Monastery). The work of the conference was divided into eight sections: Athos traditions in culture and art; Athos outside Afon: connection of the Holy Mountain with the Orthodox oikoumena; Athos in the life and history of monasticism; The influence of Athos on writing and the literary process; Life and work of St. Paisiya Velichkovsky; Athos in the history of Ukraine; Athos in theology and philosophy; Traditions of pilgrimage to Athos. The conference was initiated by the International Institute of Athos Heritage in Ukraine in conjunction with Chernigov National Pedagogical University. T.G.
